January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Seriously??  Happy New 2014 Year!  WHERE did this year go??  I know I have been busy but did I really miss this entire year?  I have some memorable moments but many of the days have truly escaped my memory.

But it is now time to move on... So if you have been hopping with us, then you have arrived from the happiest of all stampers at Dawn's blog here.  Her card gives you a sneak peek at some of the new CTMH products!

If you get lost hopping around you can always go back to Melinda's blog here where you will find the complete list for this month's hop.

In my life I have dabbled in many crafts!  In the 80's I loved to crossstitch and I have a few of my projects left from that 'stage' in my life.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to sew!  No, I am not a quilter.  I originally sewed garments for myself...but alas those days are gone...

I was once known as "the vest lady"!  I taught vest classes in Tampa and traveled in the 90's on the weekends to a variety of Pfaff dealers.  (oh - so fun!)

In 2002, I started teaching bag classes ( long before there were a million bag patterns)!  I had my own line of bag patterns and I was known as 'the bag lady'!  I decided to dig out some photos and create a 2 page layout using this month's stamp set ...  Here are several pics of the ladies with their finished bags in my 'most popular' bag class!

Here is my 2 page layout using the retired Stella paper pack.  I should probably inform you right now that I purchase any paper, stamp, embellishments or accoutrements that have to do with sewing!!!

Now it is off to Lisa's blog  here a.k.a. the "Happy Stamper".  I am sandwiched beteen two happy consultants - how can this year not be an exciting year???

Happy New Year everyone!!

Pazzles M & M train

Anyone who knows me, also knows that I collect M & M's! (HUGE!) This week Pazzles started their Christmas project - the Pazzles Express.  Well, I just had to make it an M & M train!

Tonight I finished the engine and the 'coal' car.  I lined the car with red and green paper (wish I had purchased more...) and of course filled them with M & M's. Sadly the weight of the candy was a little too much for the car, so I quick took a picture of it and then emptied it into my candy dish...

I added a knob to the engineer's door...

Now off to start making another car....
(check back soon!)

Oh I am so excited!! ... my signals and trees are done!  ready to add a winter twist to my  train set...

I started decorating for the holidays... and I added my train to my hutch in the front foyer!  I decided to add some snow and glitter to my tree,,,  yummy...

WooHoo!! I won!!

Yep, I won a "My Crush" book from Jeanette Lynton and Close to My Heart!  Thank you!!

I picked the Bluebird "My Crush" book for my prize!  Thanks to Patty H. for letting me know I won!!

Here is the comment I left....

Blogger Adeline E. Brill said...
My children are both adults and I wanted to cherish the 'little' notes they would leave me on scraps of paper as they were growing up. The "My Crush" book is a perfect way to add the scribbled notes with a photo and other mementos of their childhood...

SOTM November Blog Hop

WOW- oh wow - where did this year go?  My mom always said that time flies when I was a young child....NOW I know what she really meant!  Soooo..it is November 1st and time for the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

Over 50 ladies are participating in this month's blog hop, so I can understand how you may get lost...but not to worry.  If you do you can just click on this link and it will take you back to the list.

If you are hopping with us then you have arrived from Wanda's blog
Aren't you amazed how she interpreted the Sparkle and Shine paper pack AND this stamp set as candles on holiday card?  Well I am!

I have to admit that this stamp set is really a challenge for me.  As some of you
may know, I do not make a lot of cards.  So I challenge myself each month to make a layout with the stamp set -this month is a hard one!  Here is the artwork from corp....

.....and a close-up of the stamp set

I looked at the variety of lights and it reminded me of the lights of a summer party hanging in the breeze...  I am curious to check out all of the samples in this hop and see how everyone else interpreted this design.  These pictures are the last time that we were able to celebrate our dear friends' birthdays!  Our best friend, Tim has dementia and his brother has Parkinson's disease.  Such a happy occasion brings on such sad memories... the way we were...

This layout is pattern #18 from the Make It from Your Heart Volume 2.  The page that I used from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge is page #87.  I cut the border pieces and the "Party Time" at 11".

Supplies:
S1311 Illuminate
X7171 Sarita paper pack
Lagoon, Goldrush, Gypsy, and Cotton candy cardstock and inks
3174 Blending pen ( for the colors inside the lights)
Z1753 Sparkles
Twine

Now it is on to Teresa's blog  to see what her 'inkypaws' are making...

Check out this crew.... the attire for the evening was a costume OR a Halloween T-shirt!

Naturally the ladies went a little crazy with their themed costumes...

I am so excited to print out these pics and add them to my mini book...  Here is the crew busy working away at creating their Halloween Mini books!

Lots of food, fun and frivolity....always a good time when Close to My Heart is involved....

Fall is in the air!

This week started the barrage of fall projects that we try to accomplish in the Brill household... This week's project was painting the dining room and foyer...oh do my old bones ache...

On a lighter note, here is the layout from my "Artbooking with Addie" workshop for October.  With a little help from a friend- thanks Paige- , I added to the WOTG Huntington layout and spruced it up!

Here is a collage of the layout so you can see the dimension on the page...

The "Duck Dynasty" crop was the next day and fall was certainly in abundance there!  Thanks to my friend, Ginny for this beautiful Fall wreath using the C1504 Fall Harvest stamp set.

The make-n-take cards were quick and easy and reminded everyone that Fall is coming here in Florida....

Card #1 using the C1559 Always Grateful stamp set.

Card #2

Here is a picture of my fall table at the crop...

The weather for Thursday is "Partly sunny" and a high of 78 degrees....Fall is in the Air!

The Tomaino SOTM Swap

The "patch" was rockin' again this month with the S1310 Scandinavian Wishes stamp set!! Their challenge was to use the Frosted paper pack along with Ruby and any other 'straw' colored paper to recreate the colors of a true' Scandinavian' authentic design.

The cards they submitted were awesome!!     So 'drum roll' please....

Nancy was the first one to arrive at my place...  I love her rendition of this stamp set - don't you?

Then of course there was  Adeline - hey - that's me!!  My inspiration came from Gina B here...  I just tweaked her design slightly to fit my mood...

Along came Rebecca Edwards - her design is amazing!!

Then Norma decided to create a 3 x 8 horizontal card - fantastic!!

I dressed up her card slightly with my Scandinavian ornaments...

And  Gloria decided to bump it up a notch by creating this fabulous card!!

The Tomaino Patch is the 'bestest' in Florida - don't you think???

Enjoy!!

October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Hello October!!  Hello Fall!  Hello cooler temps???  Ok - where are you?  Today's high - 89 degrees....urg!  I have to go into the stores to get the 'cooler' temps- Target is always freezing cold!!  But regardless, the Holiday season has arrived and this month Close to My Heart's stamp of the Month is S1310 Scandinavian Wishes!

If you have been hopping with us then you have arrived from Kim's blog here and checked out her card and tags!

If you get lost along the way you can always go back to Kathleen's blog for the complete list here.

When I think of Scandinavia I think of my dear mother-in-law who was Swedish. She was born in the U.S. to Swedish  immigrants and grew up in Western New York on a dairy farm.  At Christmas she always had plenty of Dala Horses.  The Dala horse or Dalahast in Swedish is originally from the province of Dalarna in Sweden.   It's a piece of wood carved in the shape of a horse and traditionally painted different provincial patterns.  My oldest son inherited his grandmother's collection.  I also think of different colors then the ones featured in the design post by CTMH here....

To me the colors should be red, white and straw.  Similar to what you see on this Christmas tree.  If you need additional visuals to keep up with me, just visit Ikea in the next couple of months!

So I decided to create some authentic (?) Scandinavian ornaments!  My color choices are Ruby,White Daisy and Cashmere.  The Cricut cuts are from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.

The trivets are from my mother-in-law's home and I kept them as a legacy to this sweet, dear lady...

Now it is on to Maureen's blog here  where you can view her unbelieveable  winter layout!

September SOTM Poster Tidings

Imagine having a video to show you how to creatively use this stamp set?  Well it is here!  Check out this video from corp!

The 'Tomaino Patch' ladies really rock!  Here are the cards from this month's Stamp of the Month swap!

Their challenge colors were anything from the Huntington paper pack OR the colors Ruby, Slate and Juniper....

So Gloria started with the challenge colors...

Norma's card swap was actually the first one I received and she is amazing with all of her creativity!

The girls did a fantastic job this time - don't you think??

Nancy bumped it up a notch by adding strips of the Huntington paper pack...

I had to add to the mix by going back to the colors of Ruby, Slate and Juniper!

Then Rebecca jumped it with her card....

Now aren't you  inspired?? Of course if you missed my layout earlier that I created,   here it is....

enjoy!!!
